| ASUS Eee PC 1015PW Netbook Update to Atom N570 Posted: 03 Mar 2011 10:39 PM PST ASUS has updated its netbook with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor. It is the Asus Eee PC 1015PW netbook, which was submitted in October 2010. The Eee PC 1015PW is the company's latest 10 inch netbook with a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 250GB hard drive. Up until recently, the mini-laptop's most distinctive features were the textured pattern on the lid and the purple, gold, and pink color options. Now the netbook will be one of the first to feature a shiny new Atom N570 processor. Several netbooks from Lenovo and Samsung will also hit the streets with Atom N570 chips soon, and the Acer Aspire One AOD255E is already available with the new processor. The new Google Maps, the version 5.2, is significantly improved with emphasis on Google Hotpot and Latitude social kind-of services. Hotpot service is a social service which enables users to share and rate local restaurants. In the updated versions, users will be able to tweet about the recent activity at Hotpot. For example one can now tweet the reviews about a particular restaurant and even share the rating using an integrated widget for rating. The new Google Maps has ping facility which can be used to notify friends and contacts. The "pings" will be shown in the notification area. | BlackBerry Messenger Coming To iPhone And Android Posted: 03 Mar 2011 09:59 PM PST BGR has reported that RIM (Research In Motion) will launch its BlackBerry Messenger app and service for Android and iOS such as iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices soon. The source also claims that the RIM's BBM will be launched for iOS devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch too along with one for Android. As far as what Android and iOS users can look forward to, we've been told RIM will offer stripped down versions of the BBM experience BlackBerry owners know and love. That way, Android and iOS users can communicate with practically anyone who has a smartphone using BBM, but they might not be able to share photos, location, or videos (when RIM crosses that bridge). Users who want the full BlackBerry Messenger experience will still need a BlackBerry smartphone to get it. At the same time, RIM could own the entire messaging app category on every major smartphone OS platform and could potentially draw new users in because it has given them a taste of what BlackBerry Messenger is all about. RIM considering to launch the product on Android earlier than iOS as they are all set with it, but still no word by the sources on its release date. | Jailbreak iPhone 4 On iOS 4.3 GM Using PwnageTool Posted: 03 Mar 2011 09:24 PM PST Apple has already released the iOS 4.3 Golden Master to developers, a full week before the new iOS version is supposed to come out officially. But it is available for registered developers only. Developers can get their standard or enterprise version only from Apple Developer website after signing into Apple Developer Account. But the real news is not that iOS 4.3 GM has come out but that the new OS has been already jailbroken using PwnageTool, although the whole procedure is a little more complex and requires some more experience/patience to get it done. Here's what you will need: * PwnageTool 4.2 Modifying PwnageTool Step 1: Download PwnageTool bundle for your version of iOS device. Extract the .zip folder, in there you will find a .bundle file, for this guide, we are using iPhone 4 bundle iPhone3,1_4.3_8F190.bundle. Move this file to your desktop. Step 2: Download PwnageTool 4.2 and copy it to /Applications directory. Right click, and then click on "Show Package Contents". Step 3: Navigate to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and paste iPhone3,1_4.3_8F190.bundle file in this location. Creating Custom Ramdisk for iOS 4.3 Custom Firmware Step 4: Download Universal Ramdisk Maker and simply install it as shown in the screenshots below. This is important because Ramdisk in the current version of PwnageTool is broken. This Universal Ramdisk Maker basically patches it correctly for iOS 4.3 firmware. Building iOS 4.3 Custom Firmware Step 5: Download iOS 4.3 GM firmware. Move this file to your desktop. Step 6: Start PwnageTool in "Expert mode" and select your device. Step 7: Browse for iOS 4.3 GM firmware for your device. Step 8: Now select "Build" to start creating custom 4.3 firmware file. Step 9: PwnageTool will now create the custom .ipsw file for your iPhone which will be jailbroken. Step 10: Once you have created the custom firmware, quit PwnageTool. Restore iOS 4.3 Custom Firmware Using iTunes Step 11: Start iTunes, click on your iOS device icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left "alt" (option) button on Mac, or Left "Shift" button if you are on Windows on the keyboard and then click on "Restore" (Not "Update" or "Check for Update") button in the iTunes and then release this button. This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your custom firmware 4.3 file. Select the required custom .ipsw file that you created above, and click on "Open". Step 12: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don't do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 4.3 on your iOS device. Your iOS device screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, your iOS device will be jailbroken on iOS 4.3. Booting in Tethered Mode Step 13: Download tetheredboot.zip utility for Mac OS X and extract the .zip file. Step 14: First, we will need two files from the custom iOS 4.3 GM firmware namely: kernelcache.release.n90 and iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu. To do this, make a copy of your custom iOS 4.3 GM file that you created above, change the extension of this file from .ipsw to .zip, and then extract this .zip file. Now copy kernelcache.release.n90 file, and then copy iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu files which are found under /Firmware/dfu/. Move all these files, and tetheredboot utility to a new folder named "tetheredboot" on the desktop. Step 15: Turn off your iOS device, and start Terminal on OS X and run the following commands: sudo -s enter your administrator password, then: /Users/TaimurAsad/Downloads/tetheredboot/tetheredboot You will have to of course replace "TaimurAsad" with the name of the directory on your computer. now press enter. You should now see some code running in the Terminal window, at some point, it will ask you to enter DFU mode. Now follow the following steps to enter DFU mode: * Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds Now wait for your device to boot, Terminal at this point will be showing "Exiting libpois0n" message. After a short while, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will be booted in a jailbroken tethered mode ! That’s it.    | ||
