| Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Masterplan in China 2014 Posted: 05 Mar 2011 03:06 AM PST Populous has designed the Masterplan for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Over 198 hectares will be built into the existing city, including public buildings, schools, exhibition centers, Olympic venues and athlete accommodations. Many of the buildings will glow like lanterns and careful attention will be paid to creating lush, picturesque landscaping and incorporating sustainable strategies. The Masterplan has been conceived with the legacy at the forefront and will include public buildings, such as schools and exhibition centers, alongside Olympic venues and the athlete's accommodation. Populous has been able to draw upon their considerable experience in delivering sustainable Masterplanning for other Olympic sites which include the London 2012 Olympic Park and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Park. Ashley Munday, Principal of the master planning team for the Nanjing submission said, "Our primary brief was to create a lasting legacy for the city of Nanjing following the Youth Olympics in 2014. Scheduled for release in April, the 10.1in capacitive touchscreen device runs Google‘s Android 3.0 HoneyComb operating system on NVIDIA Tegra 2 hardware. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet is sports a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display with resolution of WSVGA (1280 x 800 pixels). It can be equipped with 512MB/1GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of flash storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MicroSD card slot, stereo speakers, two cameras (1.2MP and 5MP), USB 2.0 and HDMI connector. The Transformer device has a 12.9 mm thick and weighs about 680 grams. As an optional, ASUS will offer a docking station with a QWERTY keyboard and an extending battery life (up to 16 hours), which transform into a fully-fledged notebook. MSI has brought its AMD Brazos-based nettop to the CeBIT 2011, called the MSI Wind Box DC100. Said to be a ‘perfect’ HTPC, the slim and light DC100 is equipped with the E-350 APU (accelerated processing unit) which features two 1.6 GHz Bobcat x86 cores and Radeon HD 6310 (DirectX 11) graphics, has 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, it includes six USB 2.0 ports and provides one HDMI output enabling connectivity with a large display or TV for some sweet 1080p viewing. | Google Released Android Anti-fragmentation Kit[Download] Posted: 04 Mar 2011 11:01 PM PST Google has released a new compatibility pack which helps developers combat fragmentation-related issues. The new released static library exposes the same Fragments API (as well as the new LoaderManager and a few other classes) so that applications compatible with Android 1.6 or later can use fragments to create tablet-compatible user interfaces. For the guys who don't know about fragmentation, it is the mechanism that make it easier for application to fit in any screen size of mobile running on android OS. Googles fragmentation problems are a direct result of carriers delaying or blocking Google updates to their proprietary versions of Android. The open source OS is modified at virtually every carrier/manufacturer, so they become the gatekeepers of the update path. Google has already released Honeycomb to the masses, but only the Motorola Xoom have taken advantage of it, while Gingerbread (2.3) has only been officially shipped on the Nexus S. While everyone plays catch-up, developers are stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to develop for as many different platform as possible. | T-Mobile and Orange Network To Sell Apple iPad 2 in UK Posted: 04 Mar 2011 10:01 PM PST Everything Everywhere reported that Orange and T-Mobile – will be selling the newly-unveiled Apple iPad 2 in the UK when the tablet becomes available in the country on March 25. T-Mobile Official Twitter account also confirmed the availability of iPad 2 to T-mobile and Orange network when it will get released in UK. At the iPad 2 official launch on Tuesday Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that its latest Tablet device will be launching on the 11th of March in the US and two weeks later on the 25th March in another 36 countries which includes the UK. So the Everything Everywhere release that ties in with the international roll-out should mean that they will be stocking the next gen iPad from the 25th march. The iPad 2 coming to Orange and T-Mobile was probably the reason why the original iPad also dropped in price on the network in the last few weeks. Everything Everywhere was formed in 2010 and combined the T-Mobile and Orange networks together. At the moment, users can roam between networks although 3G is still not available on the other network, ie: if you are on T-Mobile and your phone switches to the Orange network then 3G wont work. Everything Everywhere has commented that they expect roaming to be seamless sometime in the near future which makes them quite a good player when it comes to network coverage. | Windows 8 Screenshots Leaked Shows Improved Taskbar Posted: 04 Mar 2011 09:47 PM PST Chinese news site Win7China have leaked some new screenshots of Windows 8 which for the first time displayed new elements and features of the upcoming operating system. WinRumors has independently confirmed that the screenshots are genuine. The shots come from an early Milestone 2 build of Windows 8, tagged 7910.0.winmain_win8m2.110111. A total of three screenshots have been posted. Two show the taskbar and system tray, the remaining one part of the user profile directory. The first screenshot shows the Windows 8 system tray area. The core addition is the profile picture next to the system tray. According to the information on the Chinese site, these can be local or Windows Live ID accounts. It basically means that users can make use of their Windows Live ID to log into Windows 8. It is likely that additional features of the integration will be revealed at a later time. One possible scenario is to link backup or cloud based storage with a user's Live ID. The user account control shows that it will be possible in Windows 8 to use videos as user profile avatars. The last screenshot shows the taskbar again, and more precisely that Windows 8 displays driver installation progress on the taskbar's program icon. Windows 7 currently shows a similar progress bar when copying files in Windows Explorer.    | ||

When Apple released iOS 4.3 beta 1 it introduced new feature like Multitouch gestures unfortunately it was for iPad only. These gestures can be used to do variety of tasks such as three finger app switching, going back to the homescreen by simple pinching out on the app you're running using your fingers etc. The feature has been ported to iPhone 4. You can enable these multi-touch gestures on your iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3 GM, by following these simple steps. Step 1: Jailbreak iOS 4.3 GM running on your iPhone 4, you can jailbreak it using the PwnageTool 4.2. Step 2: Once you're jailbroken, launch Cydia and install OpenSSH. Step 3: Now SSH into your device (by using clients such as Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows), and then navigate to the directory:System>Library>CoreServices>SpringBoard.app>N90.plist Step 4: Using a plist editor such as TextWrangler, edit the N90.plist file. Step 5: Add the a boolean statement "multitasking-gestures" and set the value to true. Step 6: Save everything you've edited, restart the Springboard. Step 7: That's it!
