Rollerphone Concept

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 01:47 AM PDT

Rollerphone concept has originally written by Alexey Chugunnikov. It's more than just a cool looking watch with Tron blue lights, the Rollerphone by takes us to the very near future where you can pull your phones navigation out of your wristband via a retractable transparent screen.

This futuristic cellphone concept seems to blend the concepts of these two films together. A watch and cellphone hybrid, Rollerphone acts like a mini projector on the wearer's wrist. This projection shows the time on one side of the wrist and when the wearer turns it over, a roll out, transparent screen becomes available for phone calls.

You can watch videos, chat online, play games, read books and listen to music.

A customizable design, Rollerphone encourages perfect ergonomics and anthropometry. Essentially, the screen rolls out right to the tips of the wearer's fingers to ensure these features

Additionally, the Rollerphone additionally projects time, that is identical to the Alessi Watch Concept. Too bad, it is usually the judgment during this moment.

New iPhone 5 Parts Surfaces,iPhone 4-Like Design

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 01:10 AM PDT

9 to 5 Mac have managed to get more parts of the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5). From the sources at Foxconn and the leaked parts of the next gen iPhone 5 indicates some design changes but mostly similar to iPhone 4.

These parts reveal the following:
- Next iPhone will have color options: black or white.
– Contrary to some reports, next iPhone will feature a home button as the dock connector parts includes a home button connector as well.
- The headphone jack flex is redesigned. The connection piece to the iPhone's motherboard usually sits at the top of the cable but on the next iPhone, it sits on the middle of the cable. This means the piece might be moved to the bottom of the device.

Apple moving the headphone jack flex motherboard connector elsewhere could mean that Apple might be making room for something new in the device. Our speculation ranges from a beefier processor, more storage, a bigger battery, a better camera, a 4G chip, a Gobi CDMA/GSM chip, to NFC. At this point there is no way to tell.

There were also rumor at the beginning of March that Apple will go back to a metallic back for the next iPhone and that it will introduce a new redesigned antenna. Next iPhone is expected to feature the new A5 processor, currently found in iPad 2, and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

Apple is expected to announce the next iPhone sometime in June or July this year.

iPhone 5 May Launch in June 2011

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 12:34 AM PDT

Apple marketing honcho Phil Schiller confirmed through his verified Twitter account that a white iPhone will be available “this spring.” Though he didn't mention iPhone 4 or iPhone 5 but there is much anticipation that he must be referring to White iPhone 5 as launching White iPhone 4 along with iPhone 5 does not really make any sense.

Here’s what he has tweeted:

The last day of spring is June 20, so there’s your iPhone 5 availability date. Even if Schiller was in fact referring to a white iPhone 4, June 20 still files as a possible iPhone 5 release date because Apple would want to coincide any white iPhone 4 availability with the iPhone 5 arrival. Apple typically keeps the current iPhone model on the market at a reduced price when unveiling a new model.

Also Apple has also booked June 5 and 9 to run this year's WWDC based on the "Corporate Meeting" placeholder in the official Moscone center. All the clues take to us to in only direction that iPhone 5 is definitely coming before June 20th along with White iPhone 5.

Archos Gen 9 Tablet Coming in June With 1.6GHz Dual-core

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 11:54 PM PDT

Archos has announced that it would start shipping its Generation 9 tablets by June. The two slates from Archos, which will run Google Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) are both powered by a 1.6 GHz ARM A9 dual-core chip.

ARCHOS is also doing work within the Android software to support hard disk drives, and will feature up to 250GB of storage available in their Gen 9 series.

The device will also sport a patent-pending "disruptive 3G modem" as well as an Android Honeycomb operating system from Google.

While the Gen 9 tablets have the potential to be competitive with Apple — what with their powerful processors and relatively low price range — Archos still has to compete with the loyalty of the rabid Apple fanbase if it wants to have any chance at succeeding.

Digg founder Kevin Rose Will No More Stay[Confirmed]

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 11:43 PM PDT

Digg founder Kevin Rose is starting a new company. Rose had told NetworkEffect at South by Southwest that he was working on a new start-up. TechCrunch reported today that he had resigned and was closing a $1 million round in funding for the venture.

Rose has confirmed this news in a tweet, which reads in part, "I'll continue advising Digg [and serve] on the board of directors and taping Diggnation (as I have been since [Matt Williams] joined)."

In the past year, Digg saw a major exodus from its website to rival Reddit after a new management team decided to kill popular features. According to VentureBeat, traffic at Digg fell from 16m unique users to 8.2m users, according to traffic research company Quantcast. Reddit now boasts 14m unique visitors.

According to TechCrunch, Digg walked away from a US$200m potential acquisition by Google at the last minute, in 2008.

Strategic errors were compounded by the rise of Twitter and Facebook as ways of sharing news.

As well as this, Rose had a falling out with Jay Adelson, who subsequently left and Rose took over as CEO.

It is believed Rose is spending much more time with other projects, like Revision3, but plans to continue recording popular online video show Diggnation.

Facebook Acquires Mobile Startup Snaptu

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 11:31 PM PDT

Snaptu has confirmed they have been acquired by Facebook for an estimated $60 – $70 million, although some reports peg the price lower, at around $40 million. The buy will help Facebook increase its mobile footprint in developing countries where smartphones are less common.

For those who don’t know, Snaptu is a Java-based free application specifically designed for mobiles and can run almost on all mobile phones capable to run internet. Snaptu app allows its users to access various popular services especially social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Picasa and entertainment news, blogs, sports and local guides. Snaptu was founded in 2007 as Mobilca and has been downloaded about 4 million times as of May 2010.

Snaptu says:

Earlier this year, we announced the launch of a new Facebook mobile application to give people a great mobile experience on a broad range of feature phones. The Facebook for Feature Phones app currently works on more than 2,500 devices.

We soon decided that working as part of the Facebook team offered the best opportunity to keep accelerating the pace of our product development. And joining Facebook means we can make an even bigger impact on the world.

Facebook’s response:

As part of our goal to offer people around the world the opportunity to connect and share on mobile devices, we're excited to confirm that we recently signed an agreement to acquire Snaptu. We expect the acquisition to close in a few weeks, subject to customary closing conditions.

Snaptu is a startup run by a highly innovative collection of engineers and entrepreneurs, who we already work closely with to offer a Facebook mobile application for feature phones.

As part of Facebook, Snaptu's team and technology will enable us to deliver an even better mobile experience on feature phones more quickly.

This big deal would be finalized in the next week, though it has been firstly reported in several Israeli publications.

Apple Locked Digital Signatures in iTunes for iOS 4.2.1

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 11:16 PM PDT

Apple has locked digital signatures in iTunes for iOS 4.2.1 users preventing all those folks who have not saved SHSH blobs on their devices to update or repair to this firmware version, forcing users to install Apple's new operating system iOS 4.3 right now.

If you did not saved SHSH blobs, don't attempt to carry out any process to jailbreak or unlock your devices since it can turn very dicey for you, as you could be forced to update your devices to new iOS 4.3 firmware.

However, if you have saved the SHSH blobs via Cydia or TinyUmbrella, you are free to downgrade to 4.2.1 using iOS through our tutorials in jailbreak category. To avoid the same problem in future we recommend all of iPhone users to start saving their SHSH and for this purpose you can use TinyUmbrella.

Windows Phone 7 Theme,DreamBoard Coming Soon to Cydia

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 11:01 PM PDT

Yesterday i’ve posted about Dreamboard, a new software by ModMyi repo to replace Windterboard on iPhone. Beside the default Apple theme and the Android based HTC user interface there are more themes coming soon to cydia.

In order to prove this statement there is a theme coming soon from PathKiller29 and WyndWarrior that will reflect the style of Windows Phone 7. The theme is called as OS7 and will be presented in ModMyi repo.

The theme is currently in development stage and there is no news about its release date however, it is clear that the themes for DreamBoard interface are real and not merely to change icons, background and widgets such as those for WinterBoard. So it is understandable that it takes a long time to develop these themes.

We’ve some screenshots as follows.

It is hopefull that dreamboard will be update soon.

Firefox 4 Final is Now Available for Download

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 10:14 PM PDT

Mozilla has kept their promise. As previously declared, the final version of Firefox 4 is finally here, and it brings an amazing new look, faster start-up times, lots and lots of improvements, support for 3D graphics, HTML5, WebM, CSS3, SVG, hardware acceleration, JavaScript improvements, privacy enhancements, crash protection, and much more!

You can directly download the Firefox 4 final build from Mozilla FTP servers now. Once the Firefox 4 officially announce you will be able to update your Firefox directly by visiting Help Menu > Check for Updates.

Versions for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux are available from Fileforum: the Windows version already has over 61,000 downloads in only a few hours.

Firefox 4 has spent a long time in development stages. The first beta of the browser was released in July of last year, and debuted an overhauled user interface, support for the HD HTML5 video tag using the WebM format, a new add-ins manager, crash protection and performance upgrades, and a host of security fixes.

The biggest change is the placement of the tabs on the top of the browser window, which Mozilla said had less to do with some arbitrary redesign, and more with the “evolution of the web as a platform.”

A dozen official beta releases followed over the next six months, culminating with the release of the first release candidate earlier this month. In terms of performance however, it is said that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 may actually be faster.

This update will add numerous capabilities, including Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Bluetooth dialing and allows app installation to external storage.

Customers who purchase a new Samsung Epic 4G or Samsung Galaxy Tab can access Sprint ID from their Applications Menu when they turn it on for the first time. Customers with Sprint ID-capable devices can download up to five ID packs onto their phone and easily switch back and forth between them or swap them out for new ones. Sprint customers currently are downloading an average of two ID packs per device. Sprint ID packs are free to download with an Everything Data plan.“We are very pleased with the success of Sprint ID and excited to expand this rich mobile experience to customers with these two popular devices – Samsung Epic 4G and Samsung Galaxy Tab,” said John Carney, senior vice president consumer marketing at Sprint. “Sprint ID handset sales have exceeded our expectations, which is proof that customers, especially those new to smartphones, want an easier way to get apps they’ll enjoy rather than searching through thousands of apps in Android Market™.
