There is something about playing a game like Motorstorm and listen to pre-Black Metallica. I do not know, I think something really kick ass and metal on off-road game that really gets me in the mood to listen to something like Metallica. First off, MotorStorm is another game to add to the list of great franchise debut for PSP. Hot on the heels of Gran Turismo MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is just the laptop MotorStorm game many imagined. Actually, the game is so fully equipped, Sony chose to bring it to PlayStation 2

The title Arctic Edge, the name of this brand new PSP-mail tells the story this time around you turn the ice and will make your way through a series of Alaska slippery slopes. There are a number of surprises with the game. First is that it is not developed by MotorStorm's PS3 developer Evolution Studios. Instead, the Arctic Edge developed by Bigbig Studios, which has been responsible for both the Pursuit Force game on the PSP. My first time with MotorStorm: Arctic Edge was on a Sony-together in New York City months ago, and I walked away impressed. Now, with my own copy here, I'm still impressed to see the game running so smoothly on the PSP, not to mention the faithful. The gameplay feels very much as Motorstorm game on the PS3 does, right down to the physics engine (which was the second surprise), there has been a very integral part of the game since it first. So it's very nice to see PSP games out at a quality level that is higher than what I expected.

Each of the 24 unique vehicles across eight classes, offers individual characteristics as far as feel and handling goes. Now, despite the arctic theme, not bombard all tracks in the game you with icy roads and snow, as there is still more than a fair share of dirt, gravel and mud that are giving you a mix of new and old types of terrain. Because there are four surface patches to race across, come game well equipped with the right vehicles, many of which are of course all new and specific to this post. The vehicles represent 24 includes: bikes, snowmobiles, ATVs, buggies, rally cars, snow plug's, big rigs, and snowplows. If you've ever wanted to know what a big rig would feel in the snow, Arctic Edge shows you how much fun it is.

With these 24 vehicles, you get a hearty 12 tracks to explore. These tracks are fully interactive, and while you may have heard this spiel before, you've probably never really experienced it executed very well. But in the Arctic Edge may excessively honking your horn and explosions actually trigger an avalanche to occur. When it happened to me, I found out it was not done randomly, and that's because the AI in the vicinity were honking at me and I had exploded a few times from overboosting - interrupt the collected snow in the mountains. It was very, very cool. There are also collapsible ice bridges that can give-way if a big enough car crosses over them - it's all fantastic stuff.

Gameplay comes complete with a festival fashion, serving as your main career mode. Here is where you make most of your racing to make progress throughout the game. If you fancy a quick burst, you've got free rein to race against eight other opponents, or Time Trial, which is self explanatory. But, and this is a huge, but it's online gameplay is absolutely amazing here. Boasting space for up to eight players can compete simultaneously, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge defines what it means to be a full-blown portable franchise get carried over from one console. Everything about the online setup is done right, which goes to show other games have little excuse to mess up their.

Now some of you know that the game also coming to PlayStation 2 So if you're wondering what the point of the PSP game, let me tell you. First PSP games are custom soundtracks - and this is a solid reason. Second, the PSP game gets a Photo Mode. Thirdly, and perhaps the most critical, PSP game also get that awesome eight-player online gameplay I have just mentioned, meanwhile PS2 game only gets four-player split-screen. But of course, the PS2 version in favor of better graphics, as it is in a more powerful home console but that does not mean on-the-go fun. And because the PSP now boasts video-out support, you can always play Arctic Edge on TV - again, with lower visual fidelity.

On that note, it must be said, to watch the game on the PSP screen gives a much more clear and crisp picture, as opposed to routing the image to a TV. Still, despite the smaller screen size, the game still manages to show some amazing trail designs that come complete with signature jumps, routes, and beautiful scenery. Arctic Edge is definitely a well done game with graphics and physics engine which really does some amazing things. The vehicles also show great design and structural work and lighting are well done. As has always been that it's tracks and their surroundings that will win you over, demonstrates once again that this portable MotorStorm is the real deal.

Audio scores big with me as it boasts custom soundtracks. It means I do not have to have my Metallica playing in the background on my PC, I can just load it up to my 4 GB Memory Stick and play it straight through the PSP as I play the game. Custom soundtracks always score huge bonus points with me and it is no different. There is a soundtrack that comes with the game so well, boasting 20 songs from bands like Radiohead, The Prodigy, Motorhead, among various others. Also, sound effects are pretty lively, especially if you run your PSP via a TV or even if you have a pair of headphones - the crashes, explosions and sound of the vehicles sounds really nice and loud.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge for the PSP is great. There is no way around it. It does everything console gaming has done for years, with the one and only difference is the visual offering. But even still, it's a damn good looking PSP game. With Fashion Festival featuring 100 breeds, great eight-player online option, superb sound, complete with custom soundtracks, great physics, and signature gameplay design, any PSP owner will be a fool to pass up MotorStorm: Arctic Edge.
