Posted: 13 Feb 2011 01:49 AM PST Best Buy will reportedly have the xclusive retail sales ight for the new HTC Thunderbolt, in exchange the retailer has agreed not to sell the Verizon iPhone 4.HTC Thunderbolt exclusively hits Best Buy for $250 at launch and rooted prototype provides hope for easy unlock……
Best buy has just indicated to buy the HTC Thinderbolt smartphone and you will have to part with $749.99 to pocket the Thunderbolt 4G without any strings attached and that price tag might just ensure that most (if not all) go to Verizon to buy the mobile at a subsidized price. It looks like Best Buy is going 4G which is why the Verizon iPhone may not have made the cut. The HTC Thunderbolt, however, will take advantage of Verizon's 4G LTE network and data speeds on this device should demolish the speeds you'll get on the carrier's upcoming iPhone variant. The Thunderbolt is a gorgeous device and till has last generation written all over in terms of internal hardware. It's not a bad phone in the least bit, but there's almost no competition when you sit the thing next to the Droid Bionic. The Thunderbolt is basically a 4G Desire HD and while the processor on the thing is in no way slow, it's prime time for dual-core phones right now.Thunderbolt falls short with a single-core processor and HTC Thunderbolt 4G has been long-awaited and should be pretty popular once it hits the shelves. Posted: 13 Feb 2011 12:54 AM PST HP voiced skeleton to present the ProLiant DL385 server to the eccentric developer's apparatus and donates a hefty server to homebrew WebOS Internals Group…… HP has made a donation to a charity on behalf of the WebOS Internals homebrew group that is valued at over $10,000.A few weeks ago, it became clear that future growth in webOS would outpace the server infrastructure that WebOS Internals currently has in place. They were going to need some beefy hardware to keep up with the demands of acting as the a central repository for webOS homebrew apps, patches, and kernels. So they asked HP’s Phil McKinney, who has arranged to donate an HP Proliant DL385 2u server with 32 GB of RAM and 8 TB of disk space. They made the decision a few weeks ago and the server is en route. Notably, this is a straight-up donation, no strings attached. So WebOS Internals will remain how they always have: completely independent from the company whose OS they hack on. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
World’s First Programmable NanoProcessor Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:24 PM PST Researchers from Harvard and MITRE announce world’s first programmable nanoprocessor and represents a significant step forward in the complexity of computer circuits that can be assembled from synthesized nanometer-scale components.Nanowire tiles can perform an advance because these ultra-tiny nanocircuits can be programmed electronically to perform a number of basic arithmetic and logical functions…….. Engineers and scientists collaborating at Harvard University and the MITRE Corporation have developed and demonstrated the world’s first programmable nanoprocessor. The groundbreaking prototype computer system, described in a paper appearing today in the journal Nature, represents a significant step forward in the complexity of computer circuits that can be assembled from synthesized nanometer-scale components. The versatile, nanoscale circuits are assembled into tiny tile-like nanoprocessors from sets of precisely engineered and fabricated germanium-silicon wires with functional oxide shells, having a total diameter of only 30 nanometers. Shown here are atomic force (left) and optical microscopy (center) images of a programmable nanowire nanoprocessor, and a corresponding schematic (right) of the nanowire circuit architecture. The work was enabled by advances in the design and synthesis of nanowire building blocks. These nanowire components now demonstrate the reproducibility needed to build functional electronic circuits, and also do so at a size and material complexity difficult to achieve by traditional top-down approaches. Moreover, the tiled architecture is fully scalable allowing the assembly of much larger and ever more functional nanoprocessors. An additional feature of the advance is that the circuits in the nanoprocessor operate using very little power, even allowing for their miniscule size, because their component nanowires contain transistor switches that are nonvolatile. This means that unlike transistors in conventional microcomputer circuits, once the nanowire transistors are programmed. They do not require any additional expenditure of electrical power for maintaining memory. Samsung Galaxy S II And Galaxy Tab II Confirmed For MWC Posted: 12 Feb 2011 09:08 AM PST Samsung Galaxy S II and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab II rom Samsung appear to have been confirmed for a Mobile World Congress and also Galaxy Tab II has been making its way down the grapevine for a while now with teaser videos and leaked schedules……. Galaxy S II will tout a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1GHz dual-core Orion / Exynos processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0 and 24Mbps HSPA+ connectivity. It may be a smaller version of the Infuse 4G and could still have the HSPA+ 3G and a front camera.Samsung Galaxy S II will fatten up to 9.9mm presumably to accommodate the camera module, one of the last remaining parts of smartphone construction that require extra girth. Galaxy Tab II is 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet with the added bonus of it being a Google Experience Device. That should mean no Samsung-derived skin customizations atop the stock Android 3.0 UI.Little is known for certain about the Galaxy Tab II, but it may be the 10-inch variant Samsung confirmed was in development for this year. The size of the screen could still mandate LCD, but it may use its new PLS displays to provide better brightness and viewing angles over even IPS screens like those in the iPad.Galaxy Tab II features 1280 x 800 and CPU speed at 1GHz. Samsung is apparently working on a 4-inch WVGA display with 3D capabilities presumably autostereoscopic like LG’s Optimus 3D and an intriguing Motion UI ontrol scheme. The latter will allow you to pan inside Google Maps and StreetView just by the movement of your phone, as well as zoom in and out of pages by tilting the handset up and down.Samsung also has big plans for LTE with a focus on pumping out whatever you receive over the 4G connection to a nearby HDTV using dual display technology.
