Concept of Zoomin Watch

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 05:11 AM PDT

Gennady Martynov and Emre Cetinkoprulu have design a stylish chronograph Zoomin Watch. The hour as well as notation hands have been transposed by mini magnifying glasses, that creates celebration of the mass the time as easy as the digital watch.

Numbers 0 to 59 form an outer ring on the timepiece, while a magnifying glass travels around the piece enlarging the appropriate numbers as each minute goes by. In the middle, another magnifying glass rotates around a smaller circle that is marked with the numbers 1 to 12, telling you the hour of day.

Unfortunately, it is just a concept, but it looks great and who knows, some adventurous watchmaker could pick it up.

Nokia Software Updater For Mac

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 04:33 AM PDT

Nokia Software Updater for Mac available in beta and it ets you update your N79 under OS X.This release candidate is still in the development phase and the plan is to keep the trial ongoing until further notice, Nokia Software Update starts quickly and connects to a phone in PC Suite mode…………

Nokia just got awful friendly with Microsoft the company is also extending something of an olive branch to the Apple community. The Nokia Software Updater for Mac just went live, more than a year after the Windows Phone 7 version and while it’s still in beta form, it’ll allow you to push the latest revisions of core software and apps to your device. It's labeled beta right now, but it's a safe bet that using this isn't going to brick your device. Some comments left on Nokia's Beta Labs blog suggest that this application isn't compatible with devices such as the N95 8GB.Compared to other handset vendors, Nokia is a mixed bag. Sure, they give users patches and what not and some devices like the Nokia N95 get a lot more love than others like the N97, but Apple issues updated versions of their iOS that have a whole host of new features and optimizations to the built in apps you've been using since first booting up your iPhone. Then there's Android and you're pretty much dependent on either your operator or the company who made your device to get updates. It's why we always recommend the Nexus line of handsets, not just because you get newer releases of Android, but because they offer a pure Google experience without all the needless customizations handset vendors like to throw on top of what's already an excellent user interface.

Individual Gunshot Detector

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 03:37 AM PDT

US Army to deploy Individual Gunshot Detector to help give U.S. soldiers a bead on enemy fire and Individual Gunshot Detector  is an acoustic monitor attuned to tracking down the source of gunshots just by their sound……..

U.S. Army forces in Afghanistan will begin receiving the first of more than 13,000 gunshot detection systems for the individual dismounted Soldier later this month.”We’re really trying to ensure that every Soldier is protected,” said Brig. Gen. Peter Fuller, Program Executive Officer Soldier. The Individual Gunshot Detector or IGD – made by QinetiQ North America – consists of four small acoustic sensors worn by the individual Soldier and a small display screen attached to body armor that shows the distance and direction of incoming fire. The small sensor, about the size of a deck of cards, detects the supersonic sound waves generated by enemy gunfire and instantaneously alerts Soldiers to the location and distance toward the hostile fire.“When you get fired on, instead of trying to figure everything out, you will have technology to assist you in knowing what happened and where the shot was coming from,” Fuller said. The entire IGD system is procured by PEO Soldier and the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force, weighs less than two pounds. The idea is to strategically disperse the systems throughout small, dismounted units to get maximum protective coverage for platoons, squads and other units on the move.Over the next 12 months, the Army plans to field up to 1,500 IGDs per month. In the future, the Army plans to integrate this technology with its Land Warrior and Nett Warrior systems. These are network-situational-awareness systems for dismounted units, complete with a helmet-mounted display screen that uses GPS digital-mapping-display technology.“The next thing we want to do is try to integrate this capability with other capabilities; for example, we have Land Warrior deployed in Afghanistan and we’re going to have Nett Warrior coming into the force. How about, if you get shot at, not only do I know where that came from, but others know where it came from because I can network that capability,” said Fuller.

Samsung TangoView

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 01:46 AM PDT

Samsung TangoView vacuum surveillance camera will bring you to your knees and eatures an integrated video camera that lets PC, smartphone and tablet owners treat the vacuum as a remote controlled surveillance camera when not sweeping the floors………

Samsung has another home appliance milestone with their TangoView robotic vacuum cleaner, which is Wi-Fi connected and is able to monitor your home remotely. Similar to LG's Hom-Bot somewhat, this vacuum cleaner will come with an integrated video camera which allows you to treat it as a remote controlled surveillance camera through a smartphone, computer or even compatible tablet whenever it isn't going around munching up dust from your floors. Operating at a relatively quiet 48dB while featuring a microphone and external lighting, it will retail for around $711 after conversion. The Samsung vacuum, catchily titled VC-RL87W, features an integrated video camera that lets PC and smartphone users keep an eye on their pets and other domestic dwellers from the comfort of their workplace, while surprisingly enough, the video doesn't work while the vacuum is actually cleaning. Those of you that always dreamt of watching ground-level vacuum cleaning up-close and personal will doubtlessly be shattered at such news, though perhaps you should re-evaluate your life.So forget about your centrifugal Dyson vacuum, Samsung have now developed the ultimate robotic cleaning tool – it cleans when you want it to and acts as a remote-controlled surveillance camera when isn't putting paid to dust deposits.Samsung robotic vacuum is a chilling, entirely superfluous look at the future of robotic home cleaning. Though having said that, we do quite like the idea of monitoring our dog from 9-5.

Naima CFW 3.55 / 60 Hybrid With Full PSN Network

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 01:03 AM PDT

A new hybrid PS3 firmware 3.55 and 3.60 has been released and now available for download. The hacker named Naima has released this CFW called Naima CFW 3.55 / 60 hybrid. It will allow you to access full PSN network for games.

Naima PS3 CFW 3.55/3.60 Hybrid uses some files from PS3 firmware 3.60 but most of the files are from same old firmware.

According to Hakcer, this patch only modifies 3 bytes of vsh.self, which are required to spoof PS3 to think as if it's running on 3.60 FW.

Download Naima PS3 CFW 3.55/3.60 Hybrid.

Warning: This blog post is only for educational purpose. We don't mean to provide any help to jailbreakers nor we developer jailbreaking tools and app by our own. We suggest you to not access PSN on your jailbroken PS3 because Sony banns all the jailbroken PS3. This anti-jailbreaking campaign by Sony is still in process and nobody knows that by which method Sony is tracking the jailbroken PS3.

Thanks

Unlock iPhone 4, iOS 4.3 / 4.2.1 On 2.10.04 / 3.10.01 Baseband With Gevey Turbo SIM

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:40 AM PDT

There's a new iPhone 4 unlocking method, which achieves a full unlock using only a Turbo SIM card. Gevey has released a SIM Interposer which can unlock the iPhone 4 with any baseband (o2.10, 03.10 & 04.10) by force activating the baseband using the emergency dialer.

Basically, Turbo SIM spoofs the IMSI number and authentication key (Ki) supplied by the SIM card to the network, allowing locked phones to be used on any mobile network with which they are technically compatible. It copies the information from your AT&T SIM card and then the SIM to carrier of your choice. This allows the Turbo SIM to append on your carrier SIM, and apparently gives you full calling, SMS capabilities.

What does it mean to Unlockers?

It works if A.your network handles 112 calls properly according to the GSM standard; B.they are tolerant to TSMI spoofing and does not actively validate your SIM again for incoming calls.

Unlike its ancestors, the i4 SIM interposer is not a drop-in-and-forget device. The exact precedure must be performed should the device restart, lose reception for an extended period of time or move to another PLMN. In all these situations the TMSI expires and has to be obtained again. Theoretically it is possible for a daemon to automate the process similar to ZeroG, but that only makes thing more convoluted.

It is, without question, unethical or downright illegal to use the technique anywhere 112 is a legitmate emergency number. Not a huge issue in China where the number is only used for informative purposes and the networks cannot be bothered to fix the issue.

All firmware/baseband combinations for the i4 up to iOS4.3 are vulnerable, however the exploit may be patched in any future software updates or via the carrier. If apple can influence providers to block Cydia it is not impossible for them to press them to fix the exploit. The only way to permanently unlock your baseband is NCK.

SIM interposer should not harm your phone hardware, however your network could request IMEI and identify your device during the emergency call. Your identity cannot be faked and it is possible that they will ban your account. There is a reason why SIM cards remain legally the property of the service provider: you are not supposed to tamper with them without breaching contract.

Notwithstanding all the problems, SIM interposer does not cause any battery drain since it is only active transiently, nor would it cause signal loss because it does not change cellular transmission other than the initial validation step.

Appelnberry has confirmed that Gevey SIM works and will be available from March 18 or 21 to all countires except China. The Gevey Turbo SIM cards are available only in China and not available in European or American markets.

From the tweet:

Yes it WORKS. The website to buy GEVEY SIM is http://applenberry.com on March 18 or 21. We will ship to all country except China. It is currently also available on ebay.

Musclenerd from Dev Team when asked about Gevey SIM did not deny it completely, but said that the exploit they have used cannot be used by Dev Team. He even replied to users when asked about Gevey SIM's credibility:

Question: have u seen Gevey sim to unlock ip4 ?

Answer : sim carrier cards have a long/mixed history with iPhone (often hit&miss), so it's too early to tell. I have 3 or 4 older ones. For reference though, google: Turbo SIM. In its day, that was a nice programmable SIM interposer board.

Question: a lot of UL victim is going to pay for that TurboSim if u can not give a clue be4 weekend and we have no idea if it ll damage

Answer: back during the iPhone2G SIM interposer days, they never did damage (they were just always hit & miss)

Question: so u mean the gevey sim may work or may not??? on what criteria does the hit & miss depends???

Answer: unlike software unlocks, SIM interposer can take advantage of bugs in SIM Toolkit (STK). Too early to tell if this does that.

Question: So it's less likely you guys can make a SW unlock using the trick that gevey uses? (of course if we assume gevey works.)

Answer: right….hardware SIM interposers can't use any bugs that we can, and we can't use any bugs they can.

( similarly, there are known bugs that could unlock your i4 if you had an OpenBTS setup. all 3 of these interfaces to the BB have different (exploitable?) bugs: AT /dev interface, SIM (STK), cell network (OpenBTS)

right …. Hardware SIM interposer can not use any bugs that we can, and we can not use any bugs they can

veeence has also answers some of the doubts related to the authenticity of the Gevey SIM but me mentioned that he has no idea how this Savay SIM works.

This Gevey SIM seems to work via TMSI spoofing through emergency calling (112). I'm not quite sure if this legal in other countries than China.

But older TurboSIM's Seemed to work like this as well; spoof info (dial 112) and then abruptly switch back to true TMSI to connect to cell.

If you are tired of waiting for software based unlock, you can get this mod to unlock your iPhone 4. However we wont recommend it due to its legal status. The reviewer also suggests to wait for the 40-bit NCK hack for iPhone 4 by the iPhone Dev-Team.

Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0 Now Available For iDevices

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:24 AM PDT

Adobe has announced the immediate availability of the software’s follow up, Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0, for Apple iOS devices. The new version, 2.0, adds a new Camera Pack which can be purchased from within the app, which itself is free.

Photoshop Express, which also runs on desktop web browsers and Android devices, boasts over 20 million users. The mobile version offers easy, basic editing of existing or just-snapped photos, along with uploading the results to social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The new in-app purchase, dubbed “Camera Pack,” ($4) features a powerful noise filter, a self timer (three or 10-second intervals) and Auto Review, which allows users to quickly check pictures and easily delete the “bad” ones immediately after taking them. While the program works on the iPad 2 (and original iPad), it does not yet support the iPad 2 cameras (the company expects to add support in a future update).

Photoshop Express v2 for iOS requires iOS 4.2 or later, and the add-in Camera Pack requires a third- or fourth-generation iPod Touch, or an iPhone (3GS or later) or iPad. The program is presently offered in English only.

Photoshop Express 2.0 for iOS is available for free from the App Store. The Adobe Camera Pack is an in-app purchase costing £2.39.

Firefox 4 Final Version Will Be Release On March 22nd

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:04 AM PDT

A week ago Firefox 4 RC (release Candidate) was released. And now there is a confirmed date of March 22 for the final version to drop. Competitive pressures from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 and Google’s steady stream of Chrome updates appear to be driving the push to finish Firefox 4 and avoid losing more browser market share.

Mozilla's Damon Sicore said:

"As of now, there are no known issues that would stop us from shipping RC1 as final. At the conclusion of our regular 11:30AM triage session on Wednesday, 16 March, release drivers will decide whether to ship RC1 as Firefox 4."

Like IE9, Firefox 4 is HTML 5 suped up and offers anti-tracking tools. Unlike IE9, Firefox 4 will play nicely on Windows XP (as well as Mac OS X and Linux).

Windows 8 Aero Lite Screenshots Leaked

Posted: 16 Mar 2011 11:22 PM PDT

There were lots of news that the new Windows 8 has integrated the popular Metro UI into its interface. Now we have some real leaked screenshots of Windows 8 M3-enabled theme Aero Light from Winreview. It looks like the theme may still be a work in process, as is the entire OS.

Let’s take a look of the two screenshots.

Screenshots highlighting some features in Areolite have emerged. AeroLite is presumed to be a new interface in Windows 8 which will likely replace Basic Aero theme. The screenshots reveals that AeroLite theme will support Thumbnail Previews unlike Basic Aero theme. It obviously shows the buttons which are inspired from "Metro" UI and were shown in AeroLite Button resources.

The second screenshot brings "Run" dialog to foreground and tells that dialog title is aligned in center rather to Left. AeroLite was first discovered some days ago when msstyle files emerged. An early mockup of Aero Lite theme for Windows 7 is also available.

Redmond based company is working on two main separate interfaces for Windows 8. One rumored to be "Mosh" is intended for Windows 8 Slates and a demo might be given in June. The other interface named "Wind" is claimed to be a 3D interface and will be available for high end PCs. Both have been kept under "Tight Surveillance" at Microsoft's campus and no one has been able to grab a look.

Apart from Windows 8, the upcoming version of Office 15 is also rumoured to have the metro UI. Here is a screenshot of Office 15 running on Windows 8.

At this stage there is no confirmation from Microsoft on whether metro UI would finally make it to Windows 8.

iPhone 5 Cases Indicates Design Will Be Almost Same Like iPhone 4

Posted: 16 Mar 2011 10:51 PM PDT

iPhone 5 is expected to be launched in summer 2011. As we are closes to the launch date we’re hearing various rumor about iPhone 5. Within one week we’ve heard two rumor which is mentioning. Last week, we published some leaked images of engineering design of iPhone 5. And a few days ago we published that iPhone 5 will support dual SIM. And lastly today one of the most famous online item selling site, Alibaba.com displayed the pictures of the cases of iPhone and claimed that these are for iPhone 5.

According to reports, "These cases would be prototypes of the iPhone 5 cases, based on the mockup that was provided by Apple … There is apparently no fundamental change on the placement of the buttons and the SIM card slot."

Cuttings for power and volume buttons and for camera are clearly visible in the above images. The most interesting part of these cases is that, it seems that apparently iPhone 5 will be same like iPhone 4 but we surely expect some changes in inside iPhone 5 and in iOS as well.

If we look back at all the previous models of iPhone then it will reveal that every second updated model of iPhone usually has the same design of its previous model. Just like iPhone 3GS having design of iPhone 3G and now iPhone 5 may have the same design of iPhone 4.

If Apple follows its yearly pattern, the iPhone 5 will debut in either June or July of this year.

Robots Help Search For Survivors in Japan

Posted: 16 Mar 2011 05:18 AM PDT

Japan’s leading experts in rescue robotics are deploying wheeled and snake-like robots to assist emergency responders in the search for survivors of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck the country last Friday.

Robin Murphy, director of the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR) at Texas A&M University, in College Station, and one of the world’s top experts in rescue robotics, confirms that a team led by Satoshi Tadokoro from Tohoku University and a team led by Eiji Koyanagi from Chiba Institute of Technology’s Future Robotics Technology Center, have deployed, or are about to deploy, their robots.

Dr. Murphy, an IEEE Fellow whose team has taken robots to disaster sites like the World Trade Center after the September 11, 2001 attacks and New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, tells me that robots have been used in at least one previous earthquake, the 2010 Haiti disaster. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, she says, used a SeaBotix underwater remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, to investigate bridge and seawall damage as part of the U.S. assistance to the Haitian government.

For a disaster like the Japan quake, she says several types of robots could prove useful, including:

• small unmanned aerial vehicles like robotic helicopters and quadrotors for inspection of upper levels of buildings and lower altitude checks
• snake robots capable of entering collapsed buildings and slithering through rubble
• small underwater ROVs for bridge inspection and underwater recovery
• tether-based unmanned ground vehicles like sensor-packed wheeled robots that operators can drive remotely to search for survivors

Dr. Murphy, who leads the volunteer search-and-rescue robotics group Roboticists Without Borders, part of CRASAR, says the Japanese welcomed her group’s assistance; she’s now on standby awaiting a formal request. CRASAR’s robotic arsenal includes the AirRobot and iSensys helicopters, a VideoRay ROV for underwater inspection, a AEOS water vehicle with a sonar suited for bridge inspection, and several ground robots like the Inuktun VGTV, a tracked vehicle that can change its shape.

The Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue has offered its assistance to Japan is on standby awaiting an official invitation to join the effort. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers may already be using one robot, Seabotix, which they successfully used to investigate bridge a seawall damage following the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
