| Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK Now Available Posted: 23 Feb 2011 04:38 AM PST Google released the full Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK which now offers developers a finalized API to work with to develop apps for the new Android tablets that are about to hit the market with the API’s being deemed final and able to withstand new apps that will target the fresh platform…….
Google made its full Android 3.0 software development kit (SDK) available to developers, more than three weeks after shipping a rough preview version to give developers a taste of the Honeycomb build.The APIs are final which means developers can write apps for the platform and publish them to Google’s Android Market store for free or sale.Unlike previous iterations of Android developed for powering smartphones, the Honeycomb build is specifically for helping developers write apps for the larger screen size form factor of tablets. Android SDK Tech Lead Xavier Ducrohet said there have been several improvements to the SDK since its initial run-through.These include UI Builder improvements in the ADT Plugin, a new app palette with categories and rendering previews; more accurate rendering of layouts; selection-sensitive action bars and zoom improvements, among other perks.This is because Google intends the platform which features a 3D graphics rendering engine and new application tools called fragments to define the market for Android tablets to come.Google Android engineer Mike Cleron offered a sneak peek of these capabilities on the forthcoming Android 3.0-based Motorola Xoom tablet Jan. 6 at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show. | New Samsung 8.9-inch Android Tablet Coming Posted: 23 Feb 2011 03:30 AM PST Samsung is aiming to please tablet consumers with different display sizes and Yonhapnews reports that Samsung will reveal an 8.9-inch Android-based tablet next month with power of Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS………
Korean Yonhap News Agency is reporting that Samsung has an 8.9-inch Android tablet due in the first half of the year.The 8.9-inch tablet doesn't have a name at this point but we can totally see Samsung naming it Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. The tablet will be launched something in this first half of the year with next month being the earliest the tablet could be launched.Other than that the news source claims that the tablet will run on Google's Android operation system, version unknown but we feel it will be Android 3.0 Honeycomb just like the recently announced Galaxy Tab 10.1. The 8.9-inch tablet is supposed to be introduced by mid-year, the earliest date suggested being March so we may see something at CeBIT 2011 next week. | Geohot Has No Exploit to Unlock iPhone 4 On Baseband 03.10.01 or 2.10.04 Posted: 22 Feb 2011 11:28 PM PST There were rumors that Geohot has got an exploit to unlock iPhone 4 running on iOS 4.2.1 baseband 03.10.01 (and also on baseband 02.10.04). But the real fact is that he has no exploit to unlock iPhone 4 on baseband 03.10.01 or 2.10.04. George hotz confirmed on his blog to all his fans that Apple has closed the BB holes and he is using his iPhone 3GS instead.
From his blog: I wish I had an iPhone unlock, the simple BB holes appear closed (my fuzzer comes up blank). In fact, I'm still using my 3GS cause I don't have one :-/ However it doesn't mean he can't unlock the device. In fact he is already busy in fighting with Sony. Last month he was sued by Sony for jailbreaking PS3 devices. But that is not stopping him from finding some more security holes in the Sony product line. He has recently revealed his intention that he will be the first person to root/jailbreak Sony Ericsson Experia Play. On the other hand, iPhone Dev Team is also working on iPhone 4 unlock and they have already made it clear that iPhone 4 unlock on baseband 03.10.01 and baseband 2.10.04 will be released after iOS 4.3 is out. | Rumour: Apple To Launch White iPhone 5 This Summer Posted: 22 Feb 2011 11:05 PM PST Apple still hasn't managed to ship the elusive white iPhone 4. But there is huge rumors going around with regards to the launch date of the iPhone 5 which is estimated to be this summer. The leak this time comes from sources who spoke to the Economic Daily News who have hinted that Wintek has been asked to supply touch panels for a white iPhone 5 to Apple. This contract is also said to be an exclusive for Wintek.
According to Economic Daily News, there will be a white iPhone 5 too! It will feature a touch panel supplied exclusively by Wintek, which is a Chinese electronic components company. The iPhone 5 is expected to have a 4 inch display, no "Home" button, NFC integration "with a twist", a built-in FM radio, an integrated SIM and a front-facing camera, complete with PhotoBooth. Of course, we have yet to see the white iPhone 4 appear, so Apple may decide to just drop that and focus on the next generation model. Thanks | ||
| Apple Mac Book Pro With Sandy Bridge Intel Coming Soon Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:48 PM PST According to reports around the Web, Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup is due for an update very soon. In fact, as little as a week remains between Apple refreshing its MacBook Pro laptop offering to the latest Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs and debut Light Peak among other interesting features.
The new MacBook Pros, according to some observers, will feature Intel’s new dual-core Sandy Bridge mobile chips and might contain a solid-state drive used only for a quick-start OS. They may also have a new data port called Light Peak, with a blazing 10-gigabits-per-second transfer rate. This would be the fastest transfer rate from a Mac to another Mac, or a Mac to a storage Relevant Products/Services device. Light Peak technology has been promoted by Intel and Apple as a replacement for FireWire 800, USB 3.0, and other connection technologies. It utilizes daisy-chaining, allowing one device to be connected to another, and it’s expected to be available in a fiber-optic version as well as a copper one. The version expected to be announced soon by Apple will be copper, but the optical version is the real powerhouse. Optical is expected to offer 100 gigabits per second in addition to carrying an electrical connection for powering peripherals. Robert X. Cringely, an independent observer of the computer scene, is predicting that Light Peak technology, coupled with automatic load distribution in Mac OS X from Grand Central Dispatch and multi-processing control from Mac OS X‘s Xgrid, could mean a radical new approach to data servers — especially if Apple also releases Light Peak on Mac Minis. Other uncomfirmed reports suggest the new Apple MacBook Pro laptops will feature SSD-only versions, like the MacBook Air ultraportables. BGR goes one step further to suggest there’ll be an OS-only SSD in the new MacBook Pros for faster load times with other data stored on a regular hard drive. | Report: Apple iPad 2 Unveiling Scheduled for March 2 Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:31 PM PST According to an All Things D report, Apple could be gearing up to unveil the next-generation iPad March 2 at the famous Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. If that holds true, then media invitations should be imminent.
To those who care intensely about this kind of stuff–which would be pretty much everyone in the tech ecosystem–Apple will hold its much-anticipated event on March 2, where the tech giant seems poised to unveil a new version of its hugely successful iPad, according to multiple sources. According to several sources close to the situation, the Wednesday date in a little more than a week is firm and will take place in San Francisco, the scene of many such Apple events. In that case, the venue is likely to be the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Previous rumors had pegged a March unveiling date for the tablet. In a Feb. 9 posting, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber circulated a theory in which Apple whipped the curtain away from the iPad 2 sometime in March, ahead of an early-April shipping window, and then followed that up with an iPad 3 in September. Current iPad theories suggest the device will be lighter and smaller than the original, with a front-facing camera for video conferencing, more memory and a boosted graphics processor. Some reports have suggested the device will lack a Retina Display or similar high-resolution screen. “Our sources say Apple has requested that manufacturers begin work on displays with that resolution for the iPad 3,” IDC research manager Tom Mainelli told PC World, following a DigiTimes report that the next iPad would boast a resolution of 2,048 by 1,536. Through the end of last quarter, Apple has sold more than 15 million iPads. Apple's new tablet, however, will face ferocious competition for the consumer market from Motorola, Dell, and Samsung, among others. Microsoft officially handed off the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.For Windows Server 2008 R2, SP1 adds two new features that directly affect Microsoft’s desktop virtualization platform: Microsoft Dynamic Memory and Microsoft RemoteFX. The former gives on-the-fly control of a virtual machine’s memory while the latter provides a virtualized 3D graphical experience for remote users. For Windows 7, SP1 includes only minor updates: mostly hotfixes already delivered through Windows Update. SP1 will feature an updated Remote Desktop client that takes advantage of RemoteFX introduced Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. The public release follows a private release to MSDN and TechNet customers last week. Copies of Microsoft's Windows 7 SP1 RTM update leaked last month to file sharing websites ahead of its release. Microsoft has confirmed 7601.17514.101119-1850 is the final RTM. The software giant has also pushed the bits out to Windows Update.Work on Windows 7 SP2 has already begun as early as fall 2010. For those who don't know Seas0nPass works like PwnageTool on Mac or Sn0wbreeze on Windows. It allows users to create custom jailbreaked iOS firmwares and restore them in iTunes.
